Joel 2:28,29

Tomorrow we will be reading together Joel 2:28-29.
"And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit."
This prophecy is fulfilled at the day of Pentecost in Acts 2 in an amazing way.  There we see the disciples all gathered in one place to celebrate the holiday when suddenly the Holy Spirit comes upon them and they begin speaking in languages that could be understood by the many other ethnic visitors who had come to Jerusalem to celebrate: Parthians, Medes, Elamites, residents of Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, Libya, Rome, Cretans, Arabians, Jews and proselytes.  This is a sign that God is undoing the results of the fall of man.  At the Tower of Babel God confuses the languages so they cannot understand each other.  At Pentecost God enables them to understand each other.  Sin drives people apart.  The Holy Spirit brings people together.  This is what the gospel does; it unites people from every tribe, tongue, gender, and economic class.  The event at Pentecost is also God himself fulfilling the Great Commission as most of the people at Pentecost would end up going back to their home country once Pentecost was over; thus taking the gospel with them to all nations.  The fulfillment of the prophecy of Joel at Pentecost is the beginning of God's kingdom through the gospel advancing throughout the world.  Looking forward to tomorrow!
Blessings,
