Exodus 24

Hello everyone!

I hope this email finds you all doing well.  This Sunday for our Creation to Consummation reading, as we continue to read together through significant benchmarks in the unfolding mystery of redemption, we will read together the Ten Commandments, also known as the Decalogue.  This is the basis of all Old Testament laws that were given to the nation of Israel, was the revealed will of God in written form, and was the foundation for a covenant agreement between God and his people.  This covenant is also known as the Sinai covenant or Mosaic covenant, as it was established at Mt. Sinai and implemented by Moses (Exodus 24).  However, the Law was never designed to save sinners.  The Law was primarily designed to do one thing—condemn the people and point them toward their need for a genuine Savior (Heb 10:1-4).  With all the daily and ongoing sacrifices being offered in the temple day after day, the point was to constantly remind the people that they were sinful creature who could never measure up to God’s standard, and who desperately needed someone who could deliver them from the bondage of the Law, sin, and death.  That deliverance finally came in the person of Jesus Christ.  “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (Jn. 1:17).  Salvation is not a matter of keeping the Law, for no one can ever possibly keep the Law perfectly.  Salvation is a matter of faith alone in Christ alone.  Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Blessings,

Hexon
