2 Corinthians 5:20-21

Hi friends!

Tomorrow we will be reading together 2 Corinthians 5:20-21.

“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.  We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.  For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

In this passage we are reminded of what Christ did for us and why we should proclaim this to the world, of what the gospel is and why we need to proclaim the gospel.  The gospel (the good news) is that God made Christ “who knew no sin,” who was perfectly sinless, to be sin for us.  That is, to be treated as though he were sinful, to become the object of God’s wrath on our behalf, so that “we might become the righteousness of God” in Christ, so that we might be treated as though we are righteous and perfectly sinless. And we are to proclaim this gospel to the world because “we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.”  God saved us not simply so that we might be delivered from the wrath to come, but so that we might go out into the world and proclaim the excellencies of him who called us.  Looking forward to worshiping with you tomorrow!

Blessings,

Hexon
