The Gospel of Mark

Faith in the Glory of Christ

The passage in Mark 9 shows Jesus revealing His true glory to strengthen disciples who are struggling to grasp the cost of His mission. On the mountain, Christ shines with uncreated light, speaks with Moses and Elijah, and is affirmed by the Father—giving His followers a breathtaking glimpse of who He truly is. But when they descend, they immediately face chaos, unbelief, and a demon they cannot cast out. Through it all, Jesus teaches that His path to victory runs through suffering, and that their strength must come from faith in Him—not themselves. This message calls us to lift our eyes from the mundanity and hardships of life, behold the glory of Christ, and cling to Him with the humble prayer: “I believe; help my unbelief.”
