PERSONAL TESTIMONY
I grew up in a home that attended church every Sunday and Wednesday night. Being in a Christian environment I professed Christ, walked down the aisle and was baptized at a young age. This was mostly because I wanted to fit in and be liked. While outwardly I was able to maintain an image of Christian behavior, I knew inwardly that my heart was not inclined toward the things of God. It was easy to maintain goodness on the outside, but in my own mind I knew my primary motivations were pride, pleasure, greed and a host of other selfish ambitions. In addition to this, I had no peace with God and no confidence in Christ.
When I left home to attend Temple College in 2008, where I completed my Associate of Arts in Music, the love of the world began to creep into my life, leading to poor choices and their consequences. God allowed a series of difficult circumstances over the course of a year to strip away my external confidence in self. Through the faithful testimony of multiple Christians God brought into my life, including the woman I would marry, I saw the difference between mere external religion and genuine salvation.
As God opened my eyes and revealed Himself in His word, the Holy Spirit convicted me of sin resulting in an awareness of my helpless state that I had not known before. I placed my faith in Christ truly for the first time, took up my cross, and followed Him.
While in school in Denton, TX, I was blessed to be around solid believers that came alongside me with biblical teaching. The Lord graciously brought me to a church that took discipleship and Christian living seriously. It was here, at Providence Chapel, that I first heard about what it meant to truly follow Christ and live for Christ in all things. Godly men were faithful to impart truth directly into my life with book studies, small groups and prayer meetings, evangelism, holding me accountable concerning my Spiritual character, and by bringing me into their houses where I could see Christ displayed in the home.
After marrying my wife Megan and completing my BBA in Operations and Supply Chain Management from the University of North Texas in 2012, we lived briefly in Oklahoma and then returned to Temple, TX. We joined a local group of believers and served diligently among them participating in evangelism, small groups, and Sunday school.
In 2016 we continued this work in a church plant setting. This challenging and rewarding environment strengthened our marriage and our resolve to grow in Christlikeness and teach the ways of Christ to all we come in contact with. I have been compelled by love to serve and minister in multiple churches in the central Texas area and am thankful to be at Tapestry Community Church, where I hope to continue many years of fruitful ministry among the saints here.
