PERSONAL TESTIMONY

I grew up in a Christian home where attending church on Sunday was an expectation and I sat under faithful preaching of God’s Word from the same pastor from only a few months old until I moved off to college at 18. I am thankful that the Gospel was presented clearly to me at a very early age.

In 1996, when I was eight years old, I remember being in bed and having an overwhelming conviction of my sin and how I was separated from God and destined for hell because of it. I remember praying desperately and with childlike faith that Jesus would save me and give me a new heart. I can still remember the sense of peace that settled over me immediately after that plea and I was baptised a few weeks later. Even at such a young age, my need for Christ was evident in my heart and I know that I was shown many graces in my life through such an early conversion. My relationship with God began with an understanding of Him as my Savior (His salvation through Christ). As I have walked with Him over the years, I continue to know Him deeper as my Lord (His discipline) and as my Father (His love).

In the summer of 2011 Katy and I were married after we both graduated from Texas A&M University at Commerce with degrees in music education. As we began our teaching careers we lived in Killeen, TX. I took a job teaching elementary music at Lakewood Elementary in Belton, TX (where I still teach today) and Katy began to teach in Copperas Cove. We attended a church plant in Killeen early in our marriage where I served in music ministry, small group teaching, and eventually as an elder in 2017.

In 2019 we moved to Belton to buy our first home and I stepped down from eldership at my previous church to begin searching for a local church in Belton to serve. God graciously brought us to Tapestry and we have continued to serve there with our family ever since. My primary roles of service have been through leading the music ministry, teaching life group, and preaching. I look forward to as many more years of joyful service at Tapestry Community Church as the Lord allows.
